Housing Programs

Housing is an integral part of what redevelopment does in revitalizing a community.  The net effects is to eliminate blight or substandard housing, and increase the overall supply.  The Agency has adopted the strategy to increase the housing mix downtown for all income levels.

According to Section 33334.2 20% of tax increment is to be used to improve, increase or preserve the supply of affordable housing.  These legally required and restricted funds are known as Housing Set-Aside or Low and Moderate Income Housing Funds.

Other housing programs are available through the City of Modesto's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhoods Department.  Their website is www.modestogov.com/rnd/neighborhoods, or they can be reached for the Down Payment Assistance Program at 209-577-5247 and for the Affordable Housing Program at 209-577-5310.
